Congratulations to Stefan Farsang.

Stefan got the runner-up award for best Science poster in this year’s Laidlaw Internship competition. The competition was organised for the Laidlaw interns from all departments in the university. There were 25 Science posters presented and the winners were invited to have lunch with the principal, proctor and Lord Laidlaw himself. The aim of Stefan’s project was to investigate whether electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) is a reliable technique to distinguish between biogenic and abiotic Mn-minerals and whether it can be used in search for life on the red planet. Stefan conducted parts of his research at the Chemistry Department and the Open University. His Laidlaw supervisor was Tim Raub.

Stefan is photographed with Lord Laidlaw (Oli Walker, Tilted Frame Photography) at the poster presentation session on Tuesday 27 October 2015.
